Successful Gala Dinner

27 May 2014

Last Thursday evening the London Pride Spinhalers Gala Dinner  proved to be a huge success. A sell out marquee with over 250 guests enjoyed fine food and entertainment and managed to raise in excess of £30,000 for Asthma UK

Martin Bayfield, former England & British & Irish Lions second row, also a lifelong asthma sufferer, rounded off the evening with a wonderful after dinner speech, providing much hilarity as he regaled the audience with numerous anecdotes from his career in rugby and also the police force!

Prior to Martin, the auction was conducted by the peerless Jonny Gould who managed to raise circa £20,000 whilst also keeping everyone highly amused.

The marquee was erected in the beautiful grounds of Hartham Park and their catering staff provided a wonderful meal for all the supporters of the evening. Some things were done slightly differently, for instance all raffle tickets were inserted into helium balloons which were popped at the beginning of the evening revealing over 40 winners of great items donated by individuals and local business.

Numerous corporate sponsors helped to make the occasion memorable and also  extremely successful from a fundraising point of view. Huge thanks to all of you. I have no doubt you will all get individual mentions  in various blogs as we make our way across America, starting in less than three weeks time (yikes!!).
