Phil Couch

Navigation, Comms, Bike Mechanic, First Aider & Driver

Phil-Couch1Sport has been part of Phil’s life for as long as he can remember. He played Judo and Table tennis competitively when growing up, changing genre to running  and ending up completing the London Marathon 3 times, before moving on to Triathlons. Phil has completed numerous Sprint and Standard distance events in the last 14 years. His next goal, after the Race Across America, is to attempt to swim the English Channel.

Phil is currently an IT software developer, however, this is his second career, as previously he was a registered Nurse, working in the main London teaching hospitals, having trained as St Thomas’ (The home of the Nightingale school), and a few years working in General Medicine and A and E, he spent several years working in Adult Intensive care before moving to the General Pediatric Intensive care unit at Great Ormond Street (GoS) hospital for sick children.

Phil also worked on the Cardiac intensive care at GoS and was part of the Emergency Medical service, regularly blue lighting around London and the Home Counties (even flying to Torbay by helicopter on one occasion!)  to pick up critically ill children and return them safely to specialist care found at GoS. The London Pride Spinhalers are definitely in a safe pair of hands here.

Phil is married to Emily and has three daughters, Laura and identical twins Eliza and Hannah.
